A bunch of trees from a worms eye view with the text 'US Endangered Plants'

A Little About This Project

This project was my first attempt at making a website. The website had to be themed around some sort of cause. I opted to make a website based on an old project of mine. One that is meant to educate users on endangered plants within the United States.

Roles

In this project, I prototyped and built the website.

Challenges

This is the first website I had ever built so I didn't have any experience in knowing how a website should look or function. I knew some basic ideas from websites that I'd seen and what I knew I liked about them, but I didn't know how to get there.

Problems

This project only used HTML without and flex tools or other additional plugins that could help ease the process of programming. Getting everything where I wanted was a hassle.

The focus of this website is endangered plants. By the nature of these plants, there aren't many images of them, stock or otherwise. It was impossible to actually portray the plants that the website was for.

Solutions

I relied a lot on online resources such as the Adobe website and YouTube   videos for assistance in learning how to center text and place images how I wanted. I had to learn how to negate certain search queries in order to get answers that were HTML only.

And since I could not portray the plants themselves, i mainly focused on their plant families and the ideals that the website is trying to reach. Humans helping to better the environment and large, healthy forests.
