A Little About This Project

In this project, I was tasked with making a trifold for any topic of my choice. I ended up going for an escape room themed trifold inspired by the video game Persona 5 made by the video game company, Atlus. My goal was to make a pamphlet that matches the general feeling brought by the video game while also serving as a stand alone event.

Roles

For this assignment, I was tasked with creating the layout for a pamphlet.

Challenges

The primary challenge for this project is creating something that carries the spirit of Persona 5 without using any copyrighted assets. To make the trifold be easily recognized as an unofficial escape room that isn't literally Persona 5, but is inspired by it.

Problems

One of the larger problems was matching the look of Persona 5 without directly referencing the characters or the important phrases from the game.

Another problem was getting a font that suitably fills the role of the font used in Persona 5. The font is meant to resemble a calling card that a criminal might use.

Lastly, the final product needs a functional link or QR code. These don't need to go to anything literally related, but they need to work.

Solutions

Persona 5 is a very stylized game. So the goal became imitating the stylization. It makes use of lots of bright reds, black and white. There's many sharp edges and thick, somewhat misshapen outlines. And, it makes use of silhoettes and harsh shadows.

The fond ended up being made of five or so different fonts. These utilize a particular rule where certain ones appear at the starts of words, while others only appear in the middle or end. It helps harmonize the look.

And lastly, I learned how to use Adobe InDesign to create functional QR codes and used it to link to the  Persona 5 soundtrack.
