Storyboarder and Animator
Portfolio Class
Spring, 2025
This animation was made for my portfolio class. I got so absorbed in Epic the Musical that I absolutely needed to animate something to it. The results was this. All in all, the storyboarding was done in around a week and the animating took eleven days.
This animation centers around my friend's character, Sterling and is inspired off of an Epithet Erased Campaign we're currently running. This is meant to show up as a later scene. Currently, Sterling is in charge of the island where the campaign takes place. He has good intentions, but is going down a dark path. This further intensifies once his friend, Mollie, the red haired woman, gets slain during a battle. At some point he'll end up in a fairy forest that has a magical, sentient fog. The fog's meant to mess with people's heads and effects everybody differently. In Sterling's case, it prompts him to start getting more violent.
I followed the same process from my Skull Crusher Mountain animation where I ordered the storyboard to the tune of the song and then used it as a reference while drawing. Again, I like the animatic more in some ways.
The final animation involves a lot of hand animating, especially for the fog. I quite like the first half before Sterling jumps into the lake, but overall I'm pleased. I think this will make a great little piece to show when the time comes. My animating skills still need practice, and I think animating segments from campaigns like this is a great way to practice! Plus it doubles as a nice gift for my friends.
